Mrs. W. W. Walthall
Dies Monday
Funeral services were held in
the North Baptist church Tues-
day afternoon for Mrs. Dora Lee
Walthall, 65, who died in the
City-County hospital early Mon-
day after a weeks illness.
Rev. George S. Kemp, and Rev.
S. D. Lindsey conducted the ser-
vices with urial in Pecan Grove
cemetery, directed by Turrentine
Jackson.
Deceased was born October 4,
1891 in Georgia, the daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Richard Wheeler.
She was married to W. W. Wal-
thall, March 21, 1920.
Surviving are her husband, 4
sons, Ernest Walthall in the Air
Force at Atlanta; Alvin and Ray-
mond Walthall, both of McKin-
ney; Bert W. Walthall, of Tyler;
a daughter, Mrs. Bob Marshall
of McKinney; a sister, Mrs. Char-
lie Shipman of McKinney, and
three brothers, John Wheeler of
Fort Worth; Frank and Tom
Wheeler, both of Dallas and ten
grandchildren.

the funeral of Mr. Slack in Du- (
rant, Okla., Tuesday of last -
week. Mr. Slack is the father- of
Mrs. Pleas Williams of Valdasta.

spent the week-end in the home

Miss Monica Williams, daugh-

Frisco people were very for-
tunate not to have a storm of
April 2. Mrs. Katherine Dabney,
short distance west of Frisco, had
a large barn unroofed and chick-
en house blown away. This re-
porter is in deep sympathy with
all whom were in storm area,
and especially Melissa folks. I
remember April 13, 1921.

visited Mr. J. W. Wallace Tues-
day afternoon in St. Paul Hos-
pital in Dallas. Mr. Wallace is
recovering from surgery. Mr. and
Mrs. Wallace formerly lived in
Frisco.
Doyce Jouett of Irving visited
Mr. and Mrs. Lonnie and daugh-
ter Sunday.
C. D. Roberts received word
that his brother, W. L. Roberts,
was in their house when the
storm hit Melissa Tuesday and
received fractured collar bone,
broken ribs and bruises when
their house was blown away. His
wife had gone to Mrs. Hamp Wy-
song’s cellar and was safe.
Terry, small son of Mr. and
Mrs. Don Richardson, is doing
well after a tonsilectomy in
City-County Hospital in McKin-
ney Saturday, returned home
Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs. T. R. Robb and
three children of Pasadena visit-
ed her mother, Mrs. H. F. Martin,
Miss Leta and Miss Gladys and
Mr. and Mrs. H. F. Martin Jr.,
Thursday to Monday.

started in the Cobb house, a skil-
let of grease catching on fire.
Nothing was saved in their
house. The Welborn house was
very close by, catching later.
One room of furniture was saved.
The Princeton Fire Department
was called. All was beyond their
control due to a strong north-
west wind.
SP-3 Foy Myers of the U. S.
Army, stationed in Norfolk, Va.,
and S.-Sgt. Clifton Myers of the
Air Force in Alexander, La.,
were visiting relatives and
friends here over the week-end.
These boys are the twin sons of
Mr. and Mrs. T. C. Myers of Mc-
Kinney and were reared in this
community.
Mr. and Mrs. Arbie Rose of
Avenal, Calif., have been visit-
ing his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Gus
Rose and brother, Rufus Rose,
and family.
Sgt. and Mrs. Billie Junell and
son, Skipper, have been visiting
her father, Mr. John Humphries
and sister, Mrs. Wilma Lemley,
and family after spending the
past two years in Germany. They
left Friday for Ft. Benning, Ga.,
where he will be stationed.

FRISCO NEWS

Frisco fire boys went with
their truck to Dallas Tuesday
night, aiding in the rescue work
after the tornado. The truck is
special equiped with first aid
kit, cot, oxygen, stove, ten gal-
lons of water cold drink box and
10 KV power plant for lighting
system which was a great help
in the rescue work. Those at-
tending were Billy Phillips, fire
chief; Kenney Phillips, Marshall
Byrd, Cecil Byrd, Gerald Byrd,

week.
The Walnut Grove Home Dem-
onstration Club met Monday
with Mrs. L. V. Cole Jr. The
president, Mrs. Walter Hamm,
called the meeting to order at
2:00 p.m. Mrs. Robert Furr led
the singing. Miss Barbara Horn
gave the devotional from the 3rd
Psalm. Everyone repeated the
Lord’s Prayer in unison.
A mouon was made, seconded
and carried to clean the Commu-
nity Center and grounds Thurs-
day, April 18, 1957. All church
and club members, men and
women, are urged to be present
at 1:00 p.m. with the necessary
tools.
Miss Rita Stewart, a 4-H Club
girl, of McKinney gave a dairy
foods demonstration on barbe-
cued potatoes. They were deli-
cious.
Mrs. Lurline Daspit gave a
demonstration on “color in rela-
tion to you.”
Mrs. Cole served refreshments
of barbecued potatoes, pickles,
homemade cookies, cold drinks
and coffee to the nine members,
seven guests, Mrs. Ronald Stew-
art, Karen and Rita Stewart,
Mrs. Lurline Daspit of McKin-
ney, Mrs. Bill Bryant, Mrs. Vir-
ginia Shipley of Prosper, Miss
Lena Hucheson of Princeton and
Mrs. Kate Bryant.
The next meeting will be with
Mrs. Johnny Kissinger, May 13.
This will be an all-day meeting
with a covered dish luncheon.
