and Ivan Lendl take Center
Court at the Wimbledon Ten-
nis Championships on Fri-
day. it will be more than a
match — it will be a confron-
tation, rackets at court
length.
“I think if I play my best
tennis I wiU be able to beat
John McEnroe," said the
Czechoslovakian, who is
seeded third here at the All-
England Lawn Tennis and
Croquet Club.
Never one to back down
from a challenge, McEnroe,
the tournament's No. 2 seed,
said: “I am looking forward
to the match."
The last tune the two met
was in the championship
match of the WCT Finals in
Dallas on May 1 McEnroe
won that encounter in five
sets, winning the fifth-set
tiebreaker 7-0.
