program is planning to have
its 1983-1984 Recruitment
Night Tuesday from 7 to 1
p.m. In the banquet room of
the Hereford Community
Center.
Scheduled for the evening's
program are an orientation

Mark your calendar for next Thursday morning-it’s
time again for a Fun Breakfast! Co-emcees Doug Mann-
ing and Lynton Allred are planning another informative
and fun-filled event.
Incidentally, this will mark the 39th breakfast for the
two emcees since the chamber started the program about
eight years ago. Only the first breakfast was under the
direction of different men. Dean Kelly of Amarillo and
Roy Faubion of Hereford handled the first event.

Den Richards, former legislative assistant to U.S. Rep.
Kent Hance, is the latest name mentioned as a possible
candidate to succeed Hance in the 19th Congressional
District
Hance, the popular Dimmitt native, has alreadylaunch-
ed Ms campaign to succeed John Tower as U.S. Senator
from Texas larry Comboot of Lubbock has announced so
a Republican candidate for Hance's seat, and a hast of
Democrats are being mentioned aa possibilities.
Richards is a former Hereford resident, having served
as news editor of The Hereford Brand in 1972-74. His
strong point would be Ms close relationship with ths
agricuitural community of the IRh District while working
with Rep Hence Richards to currently finishing tew
school at Texas Tach.
Travis McPherson, former Deaf Smith County Sheriff,
had previously reported that he was considering the race,
but he has apparently made no decision aa yet.

called to the C of C office (364-3333) in order to
assure plenty of breakfast plates. .
Mike Carr, executive vice president of Deaf
Smith County Chamber of Commerce,
reminded that all interested citizens are in-
vited to attend the breakfast. The usual for-
mat will include fun and games, Hereford
Buck awards, community announcements and
the presentation of the “Bull Chip” award.
Drawings are held to award $25 and $75 in
Hereford Bucks, and everyone who registers
at the breakfast is eligible. There is also a
drawing for chamber members only, where
the member has to be present to win. The
award is $200 this month.
Hereford's new car dealers will be sponsor-
ing this breakfast in conjunction with the
debut of new models. The dealers have spon-
sored the event several years, and have new
cars on display at the Community Center
parking lot.
The dealers include Hereford Ford, Stagner-
Orsborn Buick-Pontiac-GMC, and Stevens
Chevrolet-Oldsmobile.
