CxAnr.L s GoT cHAx N-w OC)LE s July 10, 1951 Dear Ike: I was deeply touched by your letter of the 9th. While Jules' death was not unexpected, neverthe- less it came suddenly. I had had a long talk with him the evening before, but he took a sudden change during the night, and the end came before noon the following day. As you know, he had a long and trying illness, which he bore with much fortitude, and one can only be reconciled to the inevitable, and feel that what has hap- pened has been for the best. Bonita and I both appreciate the kind expres- sions of Hennie and yourself. Many thanks. We are leaving on Thursday of this week for Charlevoix, as we have been through so much in the past six months, that we hopeful for some respite. With all good wishes for both of you, Sincerely Mr. I. H. Kempner, Imperial Sugar Company Sugar Land, Texas.
