committee chairman reported that
the women are now engaged in
knitting sweaters, scarfs, and muf-
flers for the Red Cross. Eighteen
women of the community are en-
gaged in this knitting program, six
of them club members, as follows:

J. M. Weinzapfel, Tony Grimmin-
ger, J. B. Wilde, and Miss Anna
Hellman.
To Plan Flower Show
Plans for the annual flower show
to be held in November will be an-
nounced at the next meeting. Talks
on “Trees” scheduled for this
month’s meeting by Mrs. Herbert
Meurer and Mrs. Rosa Driever will
be heard at the October meeting.
The flower of the month was the
marigold, arrangements of which
were brought by Mrs. Andy Hoff-
bauer and Miss Hellman.
Preceding the meeting, a talk
was given in the school building
by Miss Muriel Hensler, associate
director of the USO club in Gaines-
ville, in which she outlined the du-
ties of hostesses and sponsors and
others who wish to assist with the
USO work. Names of those volun-
teering to serve were taken and
committee chairmen named.
Mrs. T. S. Myrick is chairman
of the home hospitality commit-
tee, Mrs. J. B. Wilde, assistant;
Mrs. Joe Luke, chairman of spon-
sor committee; Mrs. Nick Miller,
Mrs. Al Walterscheid, assistants;
Mrs. Jim Cook, chairman of host-
ess committee, and Mrs. Frank
Kaiser, assistant.

Warns Against Debts
BERKELEY, Calif. (UP).—In-,
flation is the time to get out of
debt and not into it, according to
Dr. Harry R. Wellman, director of
the Giannini Foundation of Agri-
cultural Economics at the Univer-
sity of California. "Inflation debts
may be hard to pay off with post-
• war profits,” he warned farmers.

MUENSTER, Aug. 25.—Home
movies belonging to Mr. and Mrs.
J. M. Weinzapfel were shown at
the regular monthly meeting of the
Muenster Civic League and Garden
club Friday afternoon in the pub-
lic school.
Included in the pictures were
shots of the club members taken
on a recent tour? and Hawaiian
scenes made near Pearl Harbor by
the Weinzapfel’s late sen, Ensign
Robert H. Weinzapfel, prior to De-
cember 7, 1941. The latter pictures
were made by him and recently re-
ceived by relatives in Muenster
along with the late ensign’s per-
sonal belongings. -
Joe Weinzapfel was in charge of
showing of the pictures, and Mrs.
J. M. Weinzapfel presided as com-
mentator. A musical background
was provided by Miss Mildred Wal-
terscheid and her accordion.
To Buy Service Flag
During the business session, it
was voted to purchase a new serv-
ice flag to replace the one now
hanging in Sacred Heart Catholic
church. which, with its 100 stars
is completely filled. Ways and
means to raise money to purchase
a new and larger flag were dis-
cussed. A committee appointed to
serve is composed of Mmes. J. B.
Wilde, Jake Pagel, and Weinzapfel.
The sanitation committee an-
tonio, is visiting her parents. Mr.
and Mrs. Henry Hice and family.
Mrs. Grace Ray and son, Jimmy
Neal, are visiting relatives in
Healdton. Okla.

'Memorial Meets
Mrs. Morton Smith received
members of the WSCS of the Wha-
ley Memorial Methodist church in
her home. 317 South Grand ave-
nue, Monday afternoon. Cohost-
esses were Mmes. Rad Ware,

Mrs. Callie Bradley offered the
devotional prayer, and Mrs. Clyde
Thomas presided as program

gram. The subject of the medita-

Dwelling.” Mmes. Duren Monroe,
David O'Brien, and Willie Allen as-
sisted Mrs. Thomas in presenting
