A SYSTEMATIC FRAUD -
( N the 4th day of May 1839, I sold to one Benjamin C. Buckley
U of Mississippi, three promissory notes drawn in my favor, one
by Charles Bigelow, dated on the 3d of May 1839, fort 1050 and one
of the same date for tl 150. both due twelve months afler date, and
one drawn by F R Lubbock dated on or about the 15th of March
1839 for 81000, exact tune of coming due not recollected, for all of
which said Buckley paid mein MADISONVILLE a.id PEARL
RIVER MONEY which has since proven a fraudulent and worth-
less issue. On the 15th of this insi. the agent of the said Buckley
came to this city and agreed to return said notes to me iu considers
tion that I would return to him the money I had, received for them,
which I did in the presence of Messrs. Bigelow. Byrne, Graus ami
Hughes, all of this city, yet the said agent in direct violatiq of he
agreement did not deliver the notes, to mebut hasabscoaded with
them, no doubt with the intention of selling them to egme person
ignorant of the above facts.
This is therefore to notify a'l persons not to trade for said notes,
m the makers have been fully notified of the frauds practiced on me
by Buckley and his agent anJ payment stopped in their hands.
