grandeur, t which no city in the world can ever* expect to reach.
Nor are thpee pr .specie confine alone to New Orleans, When we
take into vew the numerous, wide-spread, and extended arme of the
noble Missssippi, winding themselves through an extent of country
so immensely vast; embracing the most fertile and productive tegion
perhap in the known world; with a climate and scenery as delight-

face of the globe; and that New OaLzass, as a commercial city,
may, at no very distant period, claim the proud appellation of Mis-

With such a field, than, as is spread before us, we cannot but feel
conscious of our success in the imporrant labors which weirs abopt

almost entire commercial business of the "Great West," and de-

the Umed States and of Foreign Uoveinments, it will be found
especisliy interesting nnd useful to every class of our fellow citizens
throughout the Western country.
