INDIAN MURDERs.—By letters'.from Austin, da.
/ ted the 1 1th instant, we have accounts of a great ex
citement into which that town was thrown on the
night of the 13th. About ten o'clock, a cry was
raised, “the Indians, are upon us ; turn out! The
whole disposable force of Austin was soon under
arms, andimmediately set out to scour the neighbor
! hdiMi, for the em my. The body of one man was
found with the throat cut. .he scalp taken o.T. and
several ball holes pierced tiirough the region of the
heart. While they were thus engaged, the wily and
daring saqagek wer as busily occupied in catching
•. and driving away all the hrses in,th tow its, ।
The citizens returned without meeting the Indians,
and stationing a patrol about the towi for the iiglit,
they remained quiet till morning. News then cnse
