pils in Brownwood schools and
nearly 80 per cent in schools out-
side Brownwood had received
written permission from their par-
ents for the inoculations.
No child will be vaccinated in
this statewide and nationwide
free program without the consent

A mail poll of Brownwood busi-
ness firms and offices has resulted
in a decision to continue local
business holidays along the sche-
dule observed in recent years, ac-
cording to announcement by Chair-
man Joe W Blagg of the Chamber
of Commerce trade relations divi-
sion.

throughout Texas began picking up
their share of Salk anti-polio vac-
cine Saturday at state health de-
partment headquarters.
Two top priority ■ planeloads of
the precious vaccine — enugh to
launch the mass free immunization
of 487.530 children — arrived dur-
ing the morning from Indianapolis.

The first distribution of the vac-

are responsible for picking up
their own supply. Many cities and
counties were scheduled to send
planes to Austin to get their sup-
plies.
The vaccine 542 cases, each
