It's graduation time! And this happy gentleman
—appropriately enough—has just gone through
some important graduation exercises of his own.
It was just a few minutes ago, in fact, that he
stood in his dealer’s showroom and accepted the
keys to his first Cadillac car.
But even though he now holds his final degree, so
to speak, in motor car ownership, his education in
all the good things of motordom is only beginning.
Take performance, for instance. The car is so
smooth and powerful, and so nimble and obedient
that it automatically revises a man's standards of A
automotive performance. I
Consider comfort. Rolling along the broadest
boulevard or taking the roughest bylane, the car
is incredibly smooth and level in ride.
And think about pride and satisfaction. What
an extraordinary feeling it is to sit in command of
the “car of cars”—and find yourself the subject
of admiring glances on every hand.
Have you ever considered how wonderful it
would be to “graduate" to Cadillac? If you have,
then this is a marvelous time to make the move.
Certainly, it has never been easier to sign
your name to the title. We are, happily, in a posi-
tion to offer you prompt delivery on your favorite
model—and we know you will be pleased to learn
how practical Cadillac ownership has now become.
Why not stop in while the springtime is still
with us—and spend an hour at the wheel?
It’s a wonderful season and a wonderful car—
and a wonderful opportunity to enjoy them bothl

pounds, mother of seven children
isn’t so sure she's going to like
all the conveniences of town
living. She a used to milking a
cow, making a garden and some-
times she donned her slacks, sad-
dled her pony and rode a mile
to the mail box for their mail.
Wood, 82, farmed until three
years ago, when his health failed.
He turned the tending of the
land over to their youngest son
Sammy Wood.
Mrs. Wood was born Dec. 23.
1878 in Hunt County.
Her parents the late Mr. and
Mrs. Boon Christy moved to San
Saba County when she was two
years olds.
Wood a San Saba native, born
Feb. 22, 1874 was the son of the
late Henry and Elizabeth Wood.
He had four sisters and four
brothers.
The Woods children include
Mrs. H. W. Shahan, sons, D. B.
and Sammy Wood, San Saba;
Mrs. Carlton Watkins, San Mar-
cos; Mrs. H. M. Vardeman, Fort
Worth and Mrs. Iva Cleveland,
Highland Calif. AU the children
were born in the house they
moved from except the oldest.
Mrs. Woods recalls her school
days at 'Old” Algerita. The
building bad one room and there
were 100 "scholars” with two
teachers. "That's when I learn-
ed to ride horseback, riding four
miles to school,” said Mrs.
Wood.
"I love flowers,” said Mrs.
Wood and she tended them and
watered them from the free wat-
er on the farm, furnished by a
well with a windmill. Their fruit
orchard was once their pride
and joy. The long drouth since
1950 killed every tree.
The Woods' have 15 grandchil-
dren and 18 great grands. They
have an annual family get to-
gether and displayed a picture
of their celebration of their
golden wedding anniversary
more than eight years ago.
They are charter members of
the San Saba County Old Set-
tler’s Association and always at-
tend the reunions. They worship
at the Church of Christ.
