its victims are unable to absorb

attack has passed its first test,
it was revealed today.
The test was supplied by Com-
munist planes carrying delegates
from England to the Communist-
line peace congress in Warsaw.
Their flights were tracked and
patrols investigated them.
The first test came when a So-
viet plane carrying French Corrt-
munist Leader Maurice Thorez
to Moscow for medical treatment
made an uncharted flight over
Western Germany.
Radar picked up the plane and
a jet patrol was sent to investi-
gate. .

comes on gradually and may
often be confused with a simple
type of anemia. If there is any
doubt of the diagnosis it can, for-
tunately, be resolved through the
use of tests which will reveal the
inability of the patient to absorb
the fate. This fat test, however,
must be carried out over a twelve-
day period.

boy has been much older than
his baby bride, he has waited
until she reached maturity before
the marriage was consummated.
Unfortunately, however, child
marriages haven’t been confined
to such moderate cases. It long
ago became a widespread prac-
tice in many eastern countries
for grown men to marry little
girls as young as five, and set up
housekeeping forthwith.
The results of course have been
tragic beyond words.

is only a figurehead and that the
hereditary prime minister is th
real ruler of the realm. The prime
minister's family has controlled
the throne since 1867. As the re-
sult of his action in deposing the
king, who was bent on liberaliz-
ing the government, he now is
battling an uprising by the so-
called congress party which sup-
ports the monarch.
Amazing as such a child mar-
riage would seem to western peo-
ples, it isn’t an event which
would cause much suprise in Ne-
pal, or in other neighboring As-
iatic countries, for that matter.
Child marriages have been going
on in that part of the world from
immemorial, although the prac-
tice has decreased greatly in the
more progressive countries like
India.
Many of these marriages have
been made for the sake of unit-
ing old families of wealth or
rank. In cases where both parties
have been very young, the cere-
mony has been a formality and
the couple haven’t set up house-
keeping until they were old
