Our Choice Is Waggoner Carr
The issue of conservatism, which has always been an
important one in Texas political campaigns, to minimised
vastly in the campaign being waged for the position of junior
United States Senator from Texas.
Waggoner Carr, who now is serving the people of Texas
as their Attorney General, to the Democratic standard bear-
er in the general election of November 1. Opposed to him
to a Republican who certainly can not be called a liberal.
All else aside, the Mt. Pleasant Times feels the best in-
terests of Texas, over the years, will be served by the election
of Waggoner Carr as our second member of the Senate.
Here is a public servant who is no stranger to the legis-
lative branch of government. He served five terms in the
Texas House of Representatives, and for two consecutive
terms was Speaker of the House, one of only three men in
Texas to be so honored.

HOLLYWOOD (AP) - Why
did a successful movie direc-

“Jean Arthur,” he answers

I had never known anybody
that didn’t love her on the

fan myself.
“Also, television presented
a challenge. Like-a lot of peo-

what I saw on the home
screen. I felt compelled to see
if I could do any better.”
