Dear Mr. Kempner :
Recently you received an invitation from Representative
Franklin D. Roosevelt, Jr. and a group of other distinguished
Americans on the National Christian Committee of the United Jewish
Appeal to attend a National United Jewish Appeal Conference at the
Shoreham Hotel in Washington, D. C. on April 16th. I am writing
to you to express the hope that you will make your attendance at
the Conference in Washington a matter of first importance.
There will be reports at the Conference on a number of
new developments which will be of great interest to Jewish leader-
ship throughout the country. The indications are that we may be
able to measure up this year in greater degree to the obligations
which face us. Early returns on the campaigns are encouraging.
The date of the Conference, April 16th, comes right in
the midst of campaigning in most communities. The stimulation
which will be generated in Washington will be helpful to campaign
everywhere.
I look forward to hearing, on the enclosed card, that
you will be with us.
Cordially,
Willic - 'a- -
