Commendation
From Army
Austin, Texas, Aug. 18—Com-
mendation has been earned by the
Junior Chamber of Commerce
chapters of Texas for their praise-
worthy campaign in assisting the
Army Organized Reserve program
which will in turn aid the Armed
Forces.
General Thomas T. Handy, Com-
manding General of the Fourth
Army with Headquarters in Fort
Sam Houston, Texas, wrote to the
Chairman of the Armed Forces
and Security Committee of the
Junior Chamber of Commerce,
“The patriotic desire of your or-
ganization to assist, the Armed

principal, states that no first
grade child is eligible for school
enrollment until after he is given
the regular checkup by the health
nurse. She urges that parents
take their first grade children to
Miss Reagan’s office in the East
Primary building as soon as pos-
sible. This office will be open
from 9 a.m. until 12 noon, Mon-
days through Fridays until Aug.
26. All six-year-old beginners
should have their pre-school
checkups given before early en-
rollment begins on Aug. 29.
At the time beginners report to
Miss Reagan for checkup they are
to present their birth certificates.

Kermit, was married Monday eve-
ning to Charles R. Brown.
The service was performed by
Justice of the Peace B. H. Jolley
in his home. The bridegroom is
the son of Mr. and Mrs. W. H.
Brown of Jal, N. M.
The couple will make their home
in Kermit. Mr. Brown is employed
by Pure Oil Company at the Dol-
larhide field.

A letter has also been received
by Mr. E. M. Kirkpatrick, Jr.,
Abilene, President of the Texas
Junior Chamber of Commerce,
from Senator Lyndon B. Johnson,
which was also addressed to vari-
ous Texas chapters of the Jaycees.
The Senator stated in part, “I
have learned with a great deal
of satisfaction of the fine work
you and the members of Texas
Junior Chambers of Commerce are
doing now to assist the Army Re-
serve Program. Good and useful
service has long been a tradition
with Texas Jaycees.”
