Dear Heloise
There is an excellent use for
old newspapers:
I 1 have a garden at our cot-
tage, and as we are only at
the cottage for a few days st a
time, weeds often get ahead of
us.
I solved this problem by
spreading old newspapers out
between the rows. using about
three thicknesses of newspaper.
After laying the papers out.
spread some soil. or lay rocks
on top of them to keep them
from blowing away or looking
too unsightly. "
I also use any old plastics
such as curtains, tablecloths,
etc . which are to be discard-
ed
This not only kept down the
weeds, but it served as a mulch
to keep the ground from drying
I found it well worth the
fort.
