Evening Circle
Has Bible Study
Refugio.—The Evening Circle of
the First Presbyterian Church met
at the Fellowship Hall Tuesday,
April 2 at 7:30 p.m. with Miss
Jeanette McClintock serving as
hostess.
Miss McClintock opened the
meeting with a prayer. The Bible
study on “The Things Which Are
Caesar’s” was conducted by Mrs.
Marvin Null. A film on cancer
was shown to the group as part of
the program. The meeting was
closed with the Mizpah benedic-
tion.
The hostess served refreshments
of cookies and coffee to the mem-
bers.

Be Announced
Refugio.—Mrs. R. S. Page, cafe-
teria manager, announced this
week that the school menu will
not be listed in the paper due to
a surplus of some items and a
shortage of other items.
The menu will be listed in the
paper as usual in the next two or
three weeks.
Mrs. Margerum
Receives Letter
Of Recognition
Refugio.—Mrs. E. S. Margerum,
local American Legion Auxiliary
member, has received a letter of
appreciation from the Red Cross
at Corpus Christi in recognition for
her service as a volunteer hospital
worker.
For the past seven years, Mrs.
Margerum has donated her serv-
ices to the Red Cross and patients
at the Corpus Christi Naval Hos-
pital as a volunteer worker. She
has planned parties and entertain-
ment, written personal letters for
disabled patients, and spent many
hours of her time visiting with the
patients.
The letter from Miss Francis
Flint, head recreational leader at
the Corpus Christi Naval Hospital,
reads in part as follows: “We have
appreciated your continued help
with the hospital program very
much and are looking forward to
seeing you.”

MR. AND MRS. ELMER A. WATERS of Refugio an-
nounce the engagement and approaching marriage of
their daughter, Carol, to Clifton Lee Ennen, son of Mr.
and Mrs. William A. Ennen, of Carlsbad, New Mexico.
Miss Waters, a 1954 graduate of Refugio High School,
will receive a Bachelor of Science Degree from Sul Ross
State College at Alpine, Texas, May 19. She is a mem-
ber of Kappa Delti Pi Honor Society, Mu Phi Music
Sorority, and Alpha Kappa Phi. She is a member of the
College Girl’s Sextet.
Miss Waters has served as secretary of the Baptist
Student Union- at Sul Ross for the past two years. She is
a member of the State Baptist Student Union Choir,
and has served as pianist for the First Baptist Church
at Alpine.
Mr. Ennen will receive a Bachelor of Business Admin-
istration Degree from Sul Ross State College May 19.
He is a member of Alpha Chi, Sul Ross Business Club,
Letterman’s Association, and'president of the Sul Ross
Baptist Student Union. He was also elected to serve on
the Missions Committee of the State B.S.U. this year.
The couple will be married at the First Baptist
Church at Alpine May 20.

Circle Bible Study
Refugio.—The Morning Circle of
- the First Presbyterian Church met
at the Fellowship Hall of the
church Tuesday, April 2, at 9:30
a.m. with Mrs. F. C. Horton serv-
ing as hostess:

chairman, gave the devotional.

ed by Mrs. Pat Shelton. The meet-
ing was closed with the Mizpah
benediction.

Afternoon Circle
Refugio.—Mrs. R. E. Rigby was
hostess to the Afternoon Circle of
the First Presbyterian Church at
her home Tuesday, April 2, at 3
p.m.
Mrs. W. S. McClintock opened
the meeting with a prayer and
conducted the lesson on “The
Things Which Are Caesar’s” Cir-
cle chairman, Mrs. W. H. Borg-
lund, presided at the business
meeting. The meeting was closed
with the Mizpah benediction.
The hostess served refreshments
to eight members present.
Karen Evans Feted
On Ninth Birthday
Refugio.—Karen Evans was hon-
ored with a slumber party on the
occasion of her ninth birthday,
Friday, March 29, at the home of
her parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. J.
Evans.
The cake was a white confection
frosted with pink roses and in-
scribed with “Happy Birthday
Karen” in pink. Refreshments of
cake, ice cream, and cokes were
served by the hostess.
Karen’s guests were Linda Wil-
liams, Shelia Skeen, Dorothy Han-
ing, and Brenda Dalton.
