Mrs. Elisa Herrera and

Children from migrant

Dr. Robert Roush, director of
Baylor’s Center for Allied
Health Professions.
Because the school nurse

opened in front to reveal a
panel of scalloped lace in
tiers. A bow of satin was
centered at the empire
waistline. The gently flared
skirt extended from the back
empire line into a full chapel
train. Lace appliqued on the
front of the gown cascaded
down each side, at the wrist
of the long, traditional
sleeves, and on each side of
the train.
Her chapel-length veil of
lace-edged sheer tulle was
trimmed with re-embroidered
Alencon lace appliques and
pearls and attached to a juliet
cap.
As “something old,” she
wore an antique gold drop
given to her by her late
great-grandmother, Mrs. E.J.
Marchant. “Something bor-
rowed” was her gown, which
had been worn by her aunts,
Mrs. Eileen Heyer and Mrs.
Ernestine Belt, at their
weddings in the same church,
which was constructed by the
bride’s grandfather, the late
Mr. E.E. Marchant.
The bride carried a long,
cascade bouquet of white lilies
of the valley, white stephan-
otias, and lavender rhododen-
drum centered with three
large silk black roses and six
small red rose buds.
Mrs. Jerri Kay McWhort-
er, sister of the bride, was the
matron of honor. She wore a
lavender polyester scarf dress
with a sheer tulle jacket tied
at the waist. Her hair was
laced with baby’s breath and
she carried a silk lavender and
orchid colonial bouquet.
Ted Moseley, father of the
bridegroom, was the best
man. Brothers of the bride,
Jeff Franklin and Garry
Dalton, were ushers.
A reception followed the
ceremony in the church
fellowship hall. A small round
table at the entrance held the
bridal guest book and a
lavender feather pen.
The bride’s table held a
two-tiered, lavender-trimmed
wedding cake with a black and
a red rose centering the lower
tier and fresh roses adorning
the top tier. The center of the
table featured a brass,
five-branch candelabrum and
a large arrangement of
lavender, orchid and white
gladiolus with sprenger-
lii foliage. Lavender-colored
punch was served from a
silver punch bowl by Miss
Cheryl Steputes of Mercedes.
The bridegroom’s table
was adorned with a floral
arrangement of red and black
roses. The bridegroom’s cake
was decorated with black and
red trim and centered with a
miniature Harley-Davidson
motorcycle.
Out-of-town guests includ-
ed Mr. and Mrs. Garry Dalton
of Henderson; Mr. and Mrs.
Butch McWhorter, Michael
and Niki of Comanche; Mr.
and Mrs. Don Belt, Brad,
Greg, Scott and Toby of
Cleveland, Texas; and Mrs.
Tom Heyer, Laura, Rhea Ane,
and Trey of Victoria.
The rehearsal dinner was
hosted by the bridegroom’s
parents at the Sheraton Inn in
Harlingen.
Other courtesies extended
the bride included a miscel-
laneous shower and rice bag
party with Mrs. Kay Steputes,
Cheryl and Dawn as hostess-
es. A formal dinner honoring
the bride and bridegroom was
given by Mrs. S.H. Collier,
Sr., of John Knox Village in
Weslaco.
On the day of the
wedding, a luncheon was
given at John Knox Village
with Mrs. E.E. Marchant,
grandmother of the bride, and
Mrs. George Amidon, the
bride’s great-aunt, as hostess-
es. Guests included local and
out-of-town relatives of the
bride and bridegroom.
After a wedding trip to
South Padre Island, the couple
will reside in Mercedes where
the bridegroom is employed
by the Mercedes Boot
Company. The bride is a 1979
graduate of Mercedes High
School and attended Pan
American University. The
bridegroom is a 1975 graduate
of Marshall County High
School in Lewisburg, Tennes-
see, and attended the Univer-
sity of Tennessee and
Colombia State.
