The Jennie Trent Dew Libr-
ary Board met in the courthouse
last Tuesday, with Mrs John O.
Berry, presiding in the absence
of the chairman, Judge Cecil
Egger. Mrs. E. B Gilliam served
as secretary in the absence of
Mrs. Graves. °
Mrs. Jack Earl Long was ap-
pointed treasurer to replace
Mrs. W. O. Baylor who resigned.
Report was given that the Li-
brary had been reroofed, the in-
terior of the library and book
shelves had been given a new
coat of paint, along with other
improvements, which add much
to the appearance and conven-
ience of the library.
Mrs. V. C. Bradford, librar-
ian’s report stated 15 memorial
books had been given the libr-
ary in March. Also Mr and Mrs
Earl gummy had donated a
copy of “Generals of the Con-
federate Army,” by Hall, and
Scribner’s Publishing Company
had given a copy of "They spoke
By Democracy,” by Packard;
Eight used books were donated
by Mrs. Larry Dalton. Mrs. El-
mer Scoby and Miss Mary Sue
Rahl.
Plans were discussed for the
Silver Tea April 23. sponsored by
the clubs and organizations
of the county. The schools
of the county have been con-
tacted and will help with the
program.
Miss Kavle, Field Consultant
for the State Library, has
shown an interest in the
Friends of the Library Organi-
zation and if possible will be
here to help with organizing it.
The library is for the use of
the entire county and everyone
is urged to take advantage of
its facilities. Teachers of the
Priddy School have recently
checked out a group of books
for use in their class rooms.
The Library is open from 2:30
until 5:30 ach Monday, Wed-
nesday and Saturday after-
noons. Books may be kept out
two weeks with the privilege of
rechecking if desired.
One thousand and eighty-
three books, 526 for adults and
557 for children, including the
books for Priddy teachers were
checked out during March.
New books added to the li-
brary during March include:

num, born at Childress and
Cruzcosa Clinic and Hospital,
Goldthwaite, April 6, 1964, at
2:50 a. m. She weighed eight
pounds.

Den V Cub Scouts
Tour Eagle Office
Wednesday afternoon of last
week Den 5 Cub Scouts made a
tour of the Eagle Office and
watched the press in operation
while the paper was being
printed.
The tour was highlighted by
linotype operator Roy Lee Hill
setting each Cub Scout’s name
on a metal slug. Cubs making
the tour were: Steve Lee, Ricky
Stacy, Terry Williams, Gary
summy, Leon Sutherland Robin
Reid, Junior Winslett, and Joe
Brooks. They were accompanied
by their leader, Mrs. Raymond
Summy.

In All-State Class
Johnafaye Dryman, Donna
Doggett and Charles Blackbum,
Goldthwaite High School stu-
dents, entered the one-act play
contest Friday night in the In-
terscholastic League Meet in
Copperas Cove. Donna and
Charles were named to the All-
state cast
Copperas Cove placed 1st;
Marble Falls 2nd, and Burnet
3rd, in the competition
Neal Chamberlain, director,
accompanied the players to
Copperas Cove.
Charles Hardgrave
On Dean’s Honor Roll
Charles Hardgrave, son of Mr.
and Mrs. Allen Hardgrave of
Route 1, Goldthwaite, was nam-
ed to the Dean's Honor Roll at
Abilene Christian College, the
last semester. He is a sophomore
and majoring in music.
A letter to his parents from
Walter H. Adams, Dean of the
college, said:
“A student’s being named to
the Dean’s Honor Roll is a rec-
ord of which any parent may
well be proud. And working
with a student who makes such

real pleasures to members of
the faculty and administration
