A Mexican Eagle that meas-
ured 8 feet from tip to tip of
its outspread wings was shot
in flight by Tom McCann on
his Lazy B ranch south of
Goldthwalte this week He is
having it mounted as a trophy
for the Goldthwalte football
team — the Eagles.
Grandmother McCasland died
at her bome north of Center
City last Wednesday evening
after a lingering illness Her re-
mains were laid to rest beside
her husband, who preceded her
in death a number of years ago.
Mrs John Fifer and daugh-
ter, Mrs E P McCrary and
husband, all of Almagordo, New
Mexico, came through Goldth-
walte Monday morning and vis-
ited for a few hours with Mr.
and Mrs Bert Wright The

Mr. Ben Petty dted at hia
home in the Pickens Springs
community Sunday night and
his remains ware interred in
the cemetery at Zephyr, Tues-
day
Arthur McFarland and Miss
Clara Davis were married at
the home of Rev. Jo H. Frizaelle
in this city Sunday afternoon,
in the presence gf a number of
their friends, with Rv. Frizzelle
officiating.
A carload of turkeys was
shipped from this place last
Saturday and a great number
of coopsful of the fowls have
been shipped this week. It is
estimated that the dealers have
paid out fully $15,000 for tur-
keys in the last two or three
months.
County Clerk Summy has ls-
cember 19, 1954, at 2:00 o'clock.
Masonic graveside rites were
conducted in Goldthwalte
Memorial Cemetery at 2:00
o'clock Monday afternoon. De-
cember 20. He passed away at
a Crane hospital Saturday
morning after a two weeks'
illness.

Word was received late Wed-
nesday evening as the Eagle
went to press that Mrs. Jess
Cockrum, pioneer resident of
Goldthwalte, had passed away
in a Temple hospital, where she
had been a patient for two
weeks
Mrs W B Wooster, who un-
derwent surgery at the Holly-
wood Leland Hospital, 6234 Le-
land Way, Hollywood, Californ-
ia. recently, is recuperating
nicely, according to a letter
from Mr Wooster

provements in the way of con-
crete curbs and sidewalks dur-

Miss Ruby Reynolds of the
Trigger Mountain community
and Mr and Mrs O F Eidson

of Cherokee had passed away
Friday night with a heart at-
tack. Mrs Whitt. with other
members of her family, went to
Cherokee Saturday and re-
mained for the funeral services
