big dumpster will be parked on the church parking lot
Saturday, Sunday. and Monday morning. Anyonehaving
old newspapers is asked to bring them and deposit them in
the dumpster fall the church office if you have papers, but
cannot bring them to the church. Youth will be on the lot all
Sunday afternoon to help put papers into the container.
The monthly meeting of the Administrative Board which
had to be called off last week will be held at 7:30 p.m.
Monday in the fellowship hall.
The Cheerful Ambassadors will meet Tuesday at 9:30
a.m. in the home of Nelfie Knolle at 2207 Louise
The Wesleyans, an organization for all retired people, will
begin with games at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday. Everyone is
asked to bring a covered dish to help with the luncheon.

At First United Methodist Church, church school classes
for all ages begin at 9:45 a.m. Sunday
The morning worship service begins at 11 a.m. with the
chancel choir presenting special music and the pastor, the
Rev R Eugene Jonte, preaching on the subject "Reality or
Fantasy."
The evening worship service is an informal one with the
singing of the older hymns of the church. Rev Jointe will

Sunday school at Faith Assembly of God Church will
begin at 9:45 a.m , followed by the morning worship service
and Children's Church at 10:45. The Youth Service will

Of Prophecy
The public is invited to attend a Gospel Singing on Friday.
May 30 at 7:30 p.m. at the Church of God of Prophecy,
located-at the comer of Willis and N. Beauregard. It will
feature The Mercy River Boys, formerly the Singing
Christians )
Wayne Christian, now with the group, and his father
James have been singing gospel for 12 years and have made
eight albums, the last four for Canaan Records in Waco He
and his dad still manage the group, which has appeared on
all major gospel concert stages, including "Gospel Singing
Jubilee," a nationally syndicated television program.
They have also performed at the Grand Ole Opry and
been the featured gospel act at country concerts with
headliners Mel Tillis. Johnny Rodriguez and Tom T Hall.
They have been nominated for a Grammy award for Best
Gospel Album of the Year and have been nominated for
three Dove Awards Currently they are on the ballot for
Best Male Gospel Group of the Year. Best Gospel Album of
the Year and Best Backliner of the Year.
Rev Bob Carroll, pastor of Church of God of Prophecy
said there will not be an admission charge but a free-will
offering will be taken.
Other activities at the church include the following:
Sunday school will begin at 9:45 a.m., preceded by choir
practice at 9 a.m. Cornell Gurtis is the Sunday school
superintendent and Betty Barajas is the minister of music.
Rev. Carroll will lead the morning worship service at 11
a m The Children’s Church will begin at 11:15 a.m. with
Lunda Curtis in charge. This is for children ages 3 -11. The
Sunday evening worship service will begin at 6:30.
A mid-week service is conducted at 7:30 p.m on Wed-
nesday Also at this time the church has the Gleaner Set-
■vice for children ages 3 - 12 in the fellowship hall. Linda
Curtis and Devonnia Carroll are in charge. The youth
service will begin at 7 p.m. for those ages 13 - 35. Sam
Phillips and Sue Johnson are in charge of this service

of a net-fishing concept similar to what Peter taught as he
was converted from a basiness of fishing for fish to a fisher
of men, under the Lord’s teaching.

2:35 pm - Session II - Peter's application of this new
found success
3:35 p.m - Break Tune - Coffee and goodies
3:50 p.m. - Session HI - The bait Peter used when fishing
for men.
4:50 p.m. - Sing - old songs
5:00 pm - Session IV - Peter’s experiences on the care
and keeping of fish.
6 pm - Break tune - Coffee and goodies
6:15 pm - Session V - evaluation and commitment tune
7 pm - Preaching by Eldred on Commitment" with

The day-long program is designed to consider personal
spiritual growth and opportunities to be witnesses for our

First Baptist - Manvel
Sunday school at the First Baptist Church in Manvel will
begin at 9:45 am. followed by the worship service at 11.
Church Training is held at 6 p.m and is followed by the
evening worship service at 7.
Prayer meeting is conducted at 7 p.m on Wednesday.
RA's and GA’s meet during this time The church choir will
rehearse at 8 p.m.
WMU will meet at 9:30 am on Tuesday
The Men's Chorale will have rehearsal on Sunday at 8
p.m. The Youth Choir, Singing Saints and the Little Angels
Will rehearse at 5 p.m on Sunday.
St. John Catholic
St John the Baptist Catholic Church, elocated at the
corner of Gordon and South Streets, will have vigil mass at
5:30p.m. on Saturday.
On Sunday, the church conducts mass at each of the
following times: 7 a.m., 9 a.m, 10:15 a.m. • in Spanish and
a final English mass at 11:30 a.m.
Missionary Baptist
This Sunday has been designated as "Time of Missions
Renewal" at Alvin Missionary Baptist Church. Each person
now engaged in giving to missions will have an opportunity
to recommit themselves. Those who have not yet gotten
involved will be able to do so.
Graduates will be honored in a special service this
Sunday. Those graduates are urged to come dressed in their
cap and gown.
There will be a youth camp from June 30 until July 4 for
those age eight and older. The cost is $24. A special fund has
been established for children who need financial assistance
Each person is asked to bring some antique item they have
to share with others in the group. It will be interesting to
see who brings the oldest and the oddest item.
The current schedule for South Park Baptist Church
inchudes:
Sunday 9:40 am. Bible Study; 10:50 am. worship ser-
rice; 4 p.m puppet practice: 5 p.m. Bible drill for grades 4
through 6: 6 p.m Adult Christian Training. RAs, GA.
Mission Friends for ages 2 through 5; 7 p.m, worship ser-
rice.
Youth schedule for Sundays 4 p.m Band South Park
Winds ; 4:55 p.m to 5:45 p.m.
Youth Choir; 5:50 p.m to 6:05 p.m. snack supper for
