Mrs.
lene has had to learn a lit-
tle larger variety of things
than are usual in an office
job, such as: how to wrap
200 brochures for mailing to
Texas Tourist Bureaus (over
1000 this summer) so they
get there,; how to clip, file
and post clippings from area
news papers (when what you
need is always on the back
of something else you need)
for the bulletin boards and
files at the office (Who’s Who,
What’s Happening, Govern-
ment, History, etc.); and how
to match 3 houses for rent
with 15 people needing rental
housing. She has typed' ‘Ump-
teen” stencils for C of C in-
formation sheets, area clubs
and organizations, newcomer
information etc. and had to
learn how to operate our can-
takerous mimeo machine too.
She has learned what to put
in an envelope in answer to a
school child’s request for ‘ ‘all
the information about Nocona
and your area” for a school

Michael Waldrip
Wins Award
A t Dallas Fair
Michael Waldrip, 13 year
old son of Mr. and Mrs. David
Waldrip was notified Monday
that his landscape oil painting
has won third place award at
the Dallas Fair and will be on
exhibit in the Woman’s
Building during the fair
October 4-20. He will receive a
cash prize as well as a ribbon.
Michael did the painting
report, and how to tactfully
say we already have Doctors,
dentists, attorneys etc when
an inquiry about openings in
Nocona arrive.
She’s had to learn how to
reply to a tearful Senior Citi-
zen who feels she has been
cheated by a company or
salesman that other than re-
porting it to the local au-
thorities, there is nothing the
Chamber can do...(except to
remind them once again to
“Shop Nocona First”) and to
come up smiling with a thank
you when people are rude to
her. She’s had to learn who
to call to find out information
on every conceivable question
(When in doubt, call the Cham-
ber office?).
Most of all, I hope she has
learned that Nocona is just
full of helpful people who are
willing to give of their time,
their money and their selves
to almost any worthy project.
It’s a great opportunity for a
first job......and fun, too!!!!
