At that it took the Rabbits
three tries to get across the
goalline. Two times they hit
the Indian line without a gain.
On third down Kevin Matlock,
the Rabbit quarterback,
circled the end and went in
standing up. Lee Campbell
kicked the point to make the
score 7-0.
The Jackrabbits, on their
only sustained drive of the first
half, scored again in the
second quarter after getting
the ball on their own 48 yard
line on a punt. A pass for
seven yards made the
touchdown and Campbell
again kicked the point.
The Indians scored late in
the second quarter after
getting the ball on their own 45
yard line. Quarterback David
Arnett tossed a pass to End
Foster Lanham for a first down
on the 14 yard line and then
came back with a pass to the
same receiver for a touch-
down. A fumble on the try for
point left the score at 14-6.
The last half belonged to the
Indians though no scoring was
done. Middle linebacker
Ronnie Robinson intercepted a
Bowie pass on the Bowie 20 to
start things off. But on the first
play the Indians fumbled and
Bowie got the ball right back.
They held the Rabbits and the
Indians came right back with a
first down on the Bowie 9.
Arnett carried to the two yard
line but three successive plays
failed to get across the goal
line and the Rabbits took over
on their own 4. They were held
•without a first down and after
the punt the Indians began
another drive on the Bowie 46.
The drive, which included a
fake punt, and run on fourth
down, carried to the Bowie 10
where the Indians again lost
the ball on a fumble.
The Rabbits got out to their
own 33 where they lost one
yard in three downs and kicked
to the Nocona 32. Here the
Indians began still another
drive which carried to the
Bowie 10. A 15 yard penalty
gave the Indians first and 25 to
go.
Here a pass to Lanham
carried to the 8 yard line but
the officials brought the ball
back to the 25, assessed no
penalty and did not count the
down. The official explained
that he had inadvertently
blown his whistle too soon.
On another drive a pass
from Arnett to Lanham was
completed over the goal line.
A defensive player knocked
Lanham out of the end zone
and the official ruled that he
had caught the ball out of
bounds. Those close to the
