Steven C. Howard of the Backdoor
Theater in Wichita Falls has agreed to
serve as chairman of the 1977 North
Texas, Southern Oklahoma Pecan
Pageant, according to pageant chair
man Pat Taylor. She also stated that
judges for the event have been selec-
ted.
This year’s pageant will be held on
Nov. 19.
A committee of heads of the various
divisions has been named. Members
are Mrs. Robert Fenoglio, Prince and
Princess: Mrs. Raymond Frost, Tiny
Miss; Mrs. Bill McChesney, Little
Miss; Mrs. Bob Mitchell, Junior Miss
and Mrs. Don Sewell, Miss Pecan.
Mrs. Taylor is also being assisted by
Margie Pettyjohn.
Saturday night and despite
the rain, there was a grand
turnout.
The highlight of the
evening was the crowning of
the kings and queens.
Elementary school king and
queen are Kim Pae and
Denney McMillan. Luanna
Prairie Valley School held
annual carnival last
issue.
Among the deceased were
two women who evidently
had no first names of their
own--at least no name was
listed except Mrs. Robert
Brown and Mrs. John Kerr.
I’m no flag-waving feminist,
but I do feel a woman is at
least entitled to the dignity
of using her own first name
in this final listing of her
time on earth.
If it is the policy of your
paper to list all married
women this way, then
perhaps you might want to
consider changing it. I have
checked in the Dallas papers
and did not find one
deceased woman listed solely
by her husband's name.
I hope you will consider

Six more area youth entered the
pageant this week. There are now
four prince and princess couples, two
princesses, two Tiny Miss contestants,
three Little Miss entrants, two girls in
Jr. Miss and three competing for Miss
Pecan.
Karen Lynn Clark of Montague will
be escorted by Toby Kyle Vann of
Forestburg in the Prince and Princess
division. Karen is the daughter of
Richard and Bonnie Clark and Toby is
the son of Tony and Dawna Vann.
Also entered in the same division is
Heather Hendrix, daughter of Don
and Belinda Hendrix of Nocona. She
will be escorted by Christopher Duck-
worth, son of Randy and Diane Duck
worth of Nocona.
