the 127th legislative district, composed
of the counties of Austin, Burleson,
Colorado, Fayette, Fort Bend, Lee and
Waller, were both held in' Sealy Satur-
day, August 24.
In the organization-of the Executive
Committee of the 1e7th district, Mr.
■L. A. Machemehl, of Bellville, county
chairman of Austinleounty, was elected
chairman of the district. For the 71st
district, Mr. F. C. Schaffner, of Sealy,
was selected as chairman. Mr. Lon
Davis, of Sealy, was elected Secretary
of both district committees.
Hon. George Herder, of Weimar,
Colorado county, having had no oppo-
sition for the nomination for represen-
tative from the Austin-Colorado district
was declared the norinee.

The nomination of that sterling Democrat, Hon. Woodrow Wilson,
for the presidency of the United States, marks an era in the public
history of the nation. At no period in the past generation has the »
Democratic party entered a campaign with so splendid prospect of 3
success. The Democratic party is the party of the people, and must !
look to the great body of men who believe in equal rights to all and
special privileges for none for its support. We feel in this hour of
anticipated triumph that it is te duty of every Democrat to contribute J
