constitution providing for state
wide prohibition. A fewuf those
present are inclined to allow the
question to be again submitted.
A majority, however, oppose re-
submission on the ground that it
has been less than three years
since the people ofTexas 1 jectel
prohibition, and that the matter
should rest for at least ten
hands of its different recipents. Then, if the original dollar be sent to
a Houston, Galveston, Brenham or San Antonio wholesaler or manu-
facturer elsewhere in Texas it will atill contribute to tha.tax fund paid
_ .for maintenance of our state government institutions. Even then, in
many cases, the dollar will come back again'to Austin county in pay-
ment for farm products, and again begin the. round of adding profits
to evsry man that handles it. I
If the dollar be sent to a Chicago mail order dealer, (it ia -gone at
once, eliminating all home profits, and forever. This is the whole
philosophy of home trading in a nut-shell, and a child can see througn
it. Most of the dollars spent at home will Work around in a circle, con-
serving the wealth of the community and adding'through the profits
made by each individual to the eum of the community’s wealth.
The dollar sent to Chicago adds to the wealth of a community"that
buys, nothing we produce; and takes away from the sum of our wealth
and limit# our opportunities to earn profits 1
