By train from Tulsa came the
Golden Hurricane, a bit battered
but recuperating from Injuries fast
enough to "be ready to go by
Thursday” in the words of Coach
Henry Frnka. A sqtiad of 33 is
making the trip.
By bus from Lubbock came the
Rod Raiders, 31 of them, and most-
ly in good condition. Coach Dell

for Warrensburg as his team led

A crowd of 4,000 persons saw
last night’s games in the sixth
annual all-college invitation tour-
Troy Stewart, an end.
Hill nnd Snith were an unbeat-
able pass team. Cousins, they
have been working together as
passer and receiver since grade
school. Hill without Smith would
be like a coat without the pants.
Both are needed to make full use
of Hill's passing skill, so Smith, a
small boy for a linesman, never-
theless is named to an end posi-
ton. Whatever deficiencies would
resutt in defense would be more
than balanced by the gain on of-
fense.
Stewart was an all-around crack
performer at the other end spot,
a position that found many cap-
able players vicing for recognition.
Both of Temple's ends, Kenneth
Baker and Barney Ham, were
good, as was Big Jon Cowsar of
Odessa's Brones, a team which
lost but one game and that by
one point.
Ed Heap, Temple's 183-pound
tackle, was a quick selection for
one tackle. The other went to De-
witt Soulter, 202 pounds, the
heaviest all-state man. Coulter
was a scrapping linesman for
Masonic Home, the only nbeaten
team in the state, hut one which
was disqualified for having an in-
eligible man. The .Masons beat
Wichita Falls. At that, Coulter
barely beat out his teammate,
Floyd Brownie Lewis, a squat,
rough and ready tackle who took
care of the other side of the line,
and John Hamberger, a consistent
performer for Sunset.
