If that wasn't profound enough
how about this--dirt is dirt for 24
hours, after that is is filth
Or how about you better not
count on it if "It's in the plans."
And then there is the classic
"every man for himself and do the
best you can with what you've got."

SEEMS LIKE some folks just
can't take a joke these days,
I don't think I have taken as much
flack about anything I have written
in the past 10 years in Yoakum as I
have over something that was all
done in fun a few weeks ago.
Can't say I enjoy taking the heat,
but it does speak well of our
community in one way.
It was on February 5 that I put
tongue in cheek and teased Texas
Department of Public Safety
Troopers Harley Clayton and Paul
Waggener about being scheduled
for days off three times when bad
weather was befalling this area. The
whole thing started by them getting
, a chuckle over the situation in the
coffee shop the day before the last
freezing spell hit.
WELL, SOME folks take serious
when you talk about their favorite
highway patrolmen and they
thought I waa being critical of them.
Some almost even got nasty about
it.
Be assured folks. I wasn't critical
of Troopers Clayton and Waggener
I think they are real fine folks, I like
them a lot. I think they do a good
job and if I had any idea that teasing
them about the situation would have
caused any problems at all I never
would have done it.
For the most part, the Depart
meat of Public Safety has a fine
group of men, and women in its
service and if the image and respect
attained by the two Troopers
’ stationed in Yoakum could be
gained by all the force it would be
* fantastic for the Texas. What a
