manager of the local exchange of the
Southwestern Telegraph and Telephone
company in Ran Antonin, has just been
promoted to the position of division su-
perintendent with headquarters in this
city. Mr Thomas is one of the men in
Texas who might be termed a thorough
“telephone man." He has grown up
with the business during the twenty-
five years of experience he has to his
credit.

The Texas league managers met here
last night and adopted the followipg
schedule for the second series: 'Okla-
homa City and Ardmore will be the
cities represented instead of Corsicana
and Paris. The season will be opened

more at Oklahoma City June 28. Each
series of the season will include four
games andthe last three days, Septem-
ber 4, 5 and 4 five games will be
played. Morning games will be played

Pitcher Slater of San Antonio Meets
With Painful Injury.
Beaumont June 24. — (pecial) —
Quite a severe accident happened to
Pitcher Slater of the San Antonio base-
ball team this afternoon during the
game with Beaumont. Slater was run-
ning for a bell in the sixth inning when
he fell to the ground and sustained a
fracture of his collarbone which will
put him out of business for the next
three weeks.
Slater stumbled as he fell and hit
the earth with great violence While
his Injury is not pronounced serious, it
will have the effect of putting a stop
to his baseball playing for the time
above stated.

Rosson of this city, received a tele-
gram yesterday that leads him to be-
leve that within a few days he will be
in the market for a solid trainload of
dogs and "purps."
At All events he has requested the
Katy railroad to quote him a rate on
dogs by the carload. This le the first
time such a request has ever been
made on the Katy railroad and the
rate will be evolved In a day or so,
if the rate is atisfactory It is more
than likely that Mr Rosson will close
a deal he now has pending and then be
will want all the dogs he will be able
to secure.
Mr. Rosson is acting for a St. Louis
firm. This firm has several eonces-
