High Grade "rerritory Near Muskogee
Falling Off in P’roduetlon.
Muskogee, I. T.. Sept. 25.—(Spec ial.)
A year ago (here were oil wells on the
Muskogee town site which were pr
during 1,000 barrels of high grade crude
oil per day. There were no wells in
adjacent territory because the leases
could not be closed up satisfactorily.
Since that time the production-of those
wells has been gradually dwindling
until there is possibly not over 100
barrels par day production. In a great
many instances the wells have been
abandoned, derricks torn down and the
casing pulled out. What gave promise
of one of the greatest hig grade oil
fields in the mid-continent belt has
fallen into collapse. An expert oil
man from the Bartlesville district 18
responsible for the statement that the
Muskogee wells, which are different
from other territory wells, have not
been properly treated and pumped, and
if they were properly managed the pro-
duction today ought to be greater than
it was a year ago As it is more money
has been put into the oil business in
the Muskogee district than has been
taken out.

THE UNEQUALED BEATTPIIR.
Stamford. Texan. Sept. 25. — (Special-)
Crop prospects around Stamford are
very flattering at present. Farmers
are hopeful of making from one-third
to one-half a bale of cotton per acre,
which, with a fair price, will place the
farmers and merchants in this territory
in a very good condition.
What makes the struggle the more
bitter is a shortage of gas in the Sa-
pulpa field, caused by salt water in the
wells. This makes It necessary for the
Sapulpa OIDA Gas company to get its
supply from the Ninty-sixth Meridian
company at Tulsa.
Both companies are backed up by
plenty of money and a compromise, or
capitulation by either one, is not likely
to result until finances have reached a
low ebb.

of G. W. Elmore, who lives at Bogota,
about fourteen miles southwest of here,
was very painfully burned a few days
ago by turning a pan of boiling water
over on her. While the burns are
painful. It is not thought any Serious
results will follow. She seems to be
very unfortunate in getting burned.
Several years ago she fell in the fire,
inflicting such burns as to disfigure
her for life.
