The tobacco growers of the United
States are enterig upon their crop sea-
sou with every prospect that the pro-
duction of the weed this year will be
more profitable than ever before. Comn-
petins among themselvea, in the light
of the best scientific knowledge, and
with federal and state government aid,
there is every reason why ths American
tobacco producers should feel satisfied
with their lot, even though the tariff
bill may not altogether suit them.
As is usually the case, the growers of
cigar wrapper tobacco can look forward
to the largest returns for their labor,
albeit their initial investment and sub-
sequent expenses may be greater. The
production of wrapper tobacco has been
most successful in the Connecticut river

Dallas, April 14.—(Special) —William
R. Kleese, a carrier in tha Dallas post-
office service, died today of pneumo-
nia. He was born in Washington, Ind,
Feb. 2, 1869, and had been a Dallas let-
ter carrier since Feb. 7, 1406. His is
the thirl death to occur among Dallas
postoliice employes since the service
was established, bring the second car-
rier whose death has been chronicled.
E. F. Anderson, who died in September/
1903, was the second employe, follow-
ing Postmaster W. M. O’Leeary. whose
death occurred in May of the same
