headquarters of Lone Star were present to
explain the request to the Council.
Guiser said that Stephenville was the
only city in his district, comprising 31
cities, that had not approved Lone Star’s
request for an increase.
City consuiting engineer Homer Hunter
and Associates had replied to the rate
request that they did not feel it was
justified, even at the compromise level of
5.66 percent.
The increase would have amounted to
$20,000 in additional revenue annually for
Lone Star in Stephenville.
Doc Blanchard, Jack Arthur and Dean
Cox were appointed as the new Board of
Equalization for the city.
The council voted to purchase a 100
acre landfill site on Old Dublin Road west
of the city. The land is known as the
Smithey property. The purchase price will
be $38,500. It was the twenty-fifth site the
Council had considered in the last six
months. -------------------------,

The Erath County Trailblazers will
assume duties as a Youth for Easter Seals
(YES) Chapter for the Easter Seal Society
for Crippled Children and Adults of Texas
in its 1973 fund raising campaign,
according to Trailblazer president Billy
Brown.
The YES chapter will help raise funds
for the treatment of physical handicaps
and promote efforts to acquaint those in
need of services with the Easter Seal
Society.
“The Youth for Easter Seal movement is
just beginning in Texas, and Stephenville
will be one of the first cities to have a
chapter," Brown said. “We wanted an
opportunity to help other young people less
fortunate than we, and we will do all we
can to assist the handicapped.”
