jewelry was a string of seed
pearls belonging to Sue Madden,
a childhood friend.
Miss Martha Ellen Roye of Ty-
ler, niece of the bride, was flower
girl. Her gown was pink organdy.
She carried a white lace basket,
decorated with pink satin and net
and filled with pink rose petals.
Miss Marcia Maness, sister of
the groom, was the bride's only
attendant. She wore a gown of
maroon organdy and carried white
accessories. Her flowers were pink
carnations.
Lucious Maness attended his
brother as best man.
Billy Joe Maness and Mike
Smallwood served as ushers and
lighted the candles preceeding the
ceremony.
Mrs. Clinton Lloyd, mother of
the bride, wore brown voile with
brown and white accessories. Her
corsage was white carnations.
Immediately following the wed'
ding a reception was given in the
basement of the church. Guests
were, registered in the bride's
book by Miss Jewel Lee Maness.
She was attired in a pink gown
with pink flowers.
The refreshment table, covered
with a white linen cloth, held a
huge white floral center piece
land a three tiered wedding cake,
'decorated with a miniature bride
land groom and lilies of the val-
I ley.
After the bride and groom had
cut their cake with a satin trim-
med server, wedding cake a n d
punch were served to many
friends and relatives by Misses
Sue Madden, Betty King and Car-
men Evans.
The bride is a graduate of Rusk
High School and was graduated
from Tyler Junior College May 28,
as a business administration ma-
jor. She was a member of the To-
Kalon sorority, Atta Kula Kula
and an active member of the cam-
pus Baptist Student Union. She
was also very interested in the
music department of the college
and played concert clarinet in the
Apache Band.
The groom is a graduate of
Rusk High School and attended
Tyler Junior College, the Univer-
sity of Texas, Austin, and at the
time he volunteered for Military
Service was a student of Stephen
F. Austin State Teachers College,
Nacogdoches.
For their honeymoon the new-
ly weds planned a ten day trip to
places of interest along the way
to the west coast, where the groom
will be stationed for a training
period with the Fleet Marines, a
branch of the Naval Dept., at San
Diego.
Mrs. Maness is the daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Clinton Lloyd of
Rusk. Mr. Maness is the son of
Mr. Jewel Maness of this city.
Out of town guests for the oc-
casion included Mr. and Mrs. Lu-
ther Bowden and daughter Rheal-
church's work. "Christ Is Coming"
is the motto chosen for the World
Conference of Seventh-Day Ad-
ventists now in session in the Ci-
vic Auditorium in San Francisco,
which Pastor and Mrs. A. B. Huen-
ergardt are attending.
Sermon topic for 11:00 o'clock
a.m. Saturday, June 5, at the Le-
gion Hall will be "Getting Rid of
Jesus". "The Thoughts of Love"
will be the t"heme studied in the
Sabbath school at 9:30 a.m. A
hearty welcome is accorded to all.

Young Democrats
Of Cherokee Co.
To Meet June 5
A meeting of the Young Demo-
crats of Cherokee County will be
held Saturday night, June 5, in
the County Courtroom at Rusk, at
8:00 p.m. Delegates to the recent
State Convention held at San An-
tonio, will make reports to the
Club and any business that should
come before the Club will be dis-
cussed.
All present members who pos-
sibly can are urged to be present
at this important meeting as well
as prospective members between
the ages of 18 and 40 including
men and women. The Club also
urges persons who are past the
age of 40 to attend who are will-
ing to sign a pledge of their loy-
alty to the National Democratic
Party. They may become mem-
bers of the Club if they so desire
and voice themselves at meetings,
however, they would not be per-
mitted to vote on issues.

Miss Carmen Evans
Miss Martha Clements, daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. E. L. Clements,
Garland, was the house guest of
Miss Carmen Evans and attended
the wedding shower honoring Miss
Evans at the home of Mr. and
Mrs. Frank Coupland, May 26.
Miss Clements is a graduate of
Bullard High School and Tyler
Junior College. She was selected
by a secret college Scholarship
and Awards committee by a unan-
imous vote as the 1954 winner of
the Watson Wise Incentive Award.
The Watson Wise incentive
Award is made possible by Wat-
son Wise, first vice president of
the Board of Trustees of Tyler
Junior College. The award is in
the form of a beautiful trophy.
Selection is based on industry,
scholarship, and leadership in ex-
tra-curricular activities.
The award was given lor the
second time this year by Mr. Wise
at (he Tyler Junior College Com-
