DEAR POLLY - My Pet Peeve has developed since I
started to work in a card and gift shop. It disturbs me to see
people browsing among gifts and cards smoking a cigar or
cigarette and dropping ashes on counters, carpet and
sometime even on the gifts. We do not display a "No
Smoking" sign but I feel people should have the good
manners to discard their cigarettes before entering the
shop - BETTINA
DEAR POLLY — I find hair clips and bobby pins very

hair clips around the bottom instead of pins. They are

see if a hem is even Bobby pins make excellent page

DEAR POLLY — I put to good use those nylon mesh bags
that citrus fruits come in. Put three on top of each other _ .

tightly to make the bags puff out and you have great
scrubbers for dishes and pans. They wash easily, do not
scratch and dry quickly.
Such mesh bags are also great for holding small utensils
that go into the dishwasher. Keep one end tied, drop them
