Notes

My dear Harris, I have yours of the 21st and [...] my conversation with you over the phone today. I sought to find out whether Haggerty (the presidents chief private secy) is in Denver or Washington, as there would be no impropriety in aquanting him with the purpose of our bill. If he is in Washington, he could (if he would) talk to whoever in the White House will go over the reports of the state + justoce departments - Clark Thompson and von [Zelinski?] should be charged with finding out whta particular official (or department) of state + justice will handle the matter. arther Perry might also be called out to do some sleuthing. I also think it worthwhile to politely invoke the assistance of Cabol Lodge, let him decode of willing. He is high in the State Departmnet. Remember this bill passes congress years ago originally and had I been on my toes, it might well be that Truman would have been posted and his action, favorable. Lodge has little use for Acheson whose (stste dept) report will be in the record
