people come to regard
prayer either as a chore or as a
waste of time. Either attitude
cuts the support out from any
real understanding of the part
prayer plays in the life of a reli-
gious person. The words which
title this picture are an expres-
sion of one who has found prayer
and worship to be most mean-
ingful. Prayer is not sweet be-
cause it is a blank check on the
Bank of the Universe signed over
to us by God so that we can have
anything we want. That kind of
prayer is not prayer but greedy
childishness. Real prayer is the
display to God of the heart which
seeks to be in harmony with His
will, and to accept His way. That
kind of prayer will be answered.
It is the prayer which expresses
the spirit of "Thy Kingdom
come, Thy will be done on earth
as it is in heaven."
