Three Memphis court report-
ers, Bobby Jack Dodson, Ber-
nard Schnicrer and Juanita
Swartz will be awarded Certif-1
icates of Accomplishment, the
Tennessee Shorthand Reporters
Association announced at the
close of its 14th annual meet-
ing at Nashville.
The certificate is awarded for
a high degree of accuracy in
verbatim reporting of testimony
and the charge of the court
dictated at speeds averaging
200 words per minute. Hardy
Fly, official reporter to Judge
Bailey Brown of the Federal
Court, is the only other Mem-
phis reporter to be awarded the
certificate. Ten reporters in the
Stale of Tennessee now have
the Certificate of Accomplish-
ment.
The Certificate of Accom-
plishment was originated by
the Tennessee Shorthand Re-
porters Association last year in
recognition of the tremendous
responsibility borne by the
shorthand reporters to the
Bench, the Bar, and the gener-
al public, in that court report-
ers in the course of a year
transcribe records of cases in-
volving billions of dollars in
judgements rendered by juries,
untold years of prison sentenc-
es, and occasionally capital
punishment offenses.
Mr. Dodson is a 1955 grad-
uate of Rusk High School, and
is the son of Mr. and Mrs, Ford
Dodson of Reklaw.
