Cholera and Limberneck
Cause of Poultry Loss
Cholera and limberneck are two
diseases that attack the poultry flocks
and cause the loss of a number of
birds each year, says D. H. Hall, ex-
tension poultry specialist At CTemsom
college, 'Who suggests below methods
of treatment; for these troubles.
Cholera is one of the worst dis-
eases that is known in the poultry
business. It attacks the fowls very
suddenly, and as a rule a poultry-
man loses from one-third to one-half
bls flock before he can d© anything.
The best treatment is to prevent the
spread of the disease rather than to
treat the sick birds. Spray the house
with a 10 per cent solution of some
disinfectant, and burn or bury all of
the droppings and dead fowls in deep
holes. Feed wet mash in troughs so
as to prevent spreading -through dry
mash hoppers. Keep the water foun-
tains clean and use permanganate < f
potash as an antiseptic in the drink-
Ing water.
Limberneck is a disease resulting
from poisoning of the fowl caused by
feeding on decomposed animal flesh.

Prominent designers in London are
not giving special emphasis to the fact,
reluctant, perhaps, to take a too rad-

..... To the Englishwoman of fashion
Paris is still the center of styles crea-
tion, however loyal she may be to her
own country's ideals and productions.
Thia year there has been a broadening
of horizon, a more sympathetic feel-
ing, largely the result of the Exposi-
tion des'Arts Decoratifs, beneficial to
both London and Paris. This does
not mean that English women accept
unconditionally the decrees of Paris or
any other authority. Individuality is
still their precious possession, and an
Englishwoman .will wear what she
chooses with the complacent assur-
ance that it is she who is setting the
style. At least it is the fashion as
it should be, whether or not the rest

There is always a certain satisfac-

We have long looked-to England for
