at 8 p. m. will close the day. The

MRS. B. F. STEPP and her nine-year-old grandson,
KENNETH WAYNE STEPP, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ver-
non Stepp, were the oldest and youngest members of
the Friendship Baptist church attending the 86th birth-
day observance of the church Sunday. Pictured in
front of the church are those who attended the all-day
program and dinner. The church was organized by an
unidentified Presbyterian preacher in 1870 or 1871.
Rev. Thurmon Bryant has served as pastor since 1951
and the membership totals 180.

a former member of the church.
Gordon, youngest minister present,
was ordained at the Friendship
Baptist church. He is at present
pastor of the McClanahan church
at Marlin, Tex.
Miss Maxine Lucus, student at
Howard Payne college, gave the
church history, which she had
written for one of her college clas-
ses. She presented the 85-page his-
tory to the church and anyone may
read it.
Music for the day was given by
Bob Johnson, Cliff Porter, girls
from the Chase Avenue Baptist
church. Dr. Jack Burton, Linda
Kyle, Jan Johnson, Charles Lucus,
Mrs. Thurmon Brvant Jo Ann
Stansbury and Janis Payne.
Many former members from out
of town were present.
