The Cherokee Dairy Improve-
ment Association is no longer an
active group, but the last existing
members of the Association met
this jmst week and decided on
what to do with remaining assets.
Looking forward, the group de-
ckled to place the remaining mon-
ey in an interest drawing sav-
ings account that could be drawn
out in the event the Association
is reactivated in the future or a
new one is formed. It was decided
that meters belonging to the As-
sociation that are used for weigh-
ing milk would l>e stored until
another as- iciaticn is set up
to use them.
Drouth, low milk prices, and
lack of a qualified suocrvisor
caused most rf the members of
the Association to suspend test-
ing. Two dairymen, Grady C. Sin-
pjetary oí Alto and John C. Cope-
land of Linwocd are havini; their
herds tested by the supervisor
of the Nacogdoches County Dai'*y
Herd Improvement Association.
This group met in the extension
council room in Rusk Present
for the meetir'i were Ben Guynn,
President, Grady C. Singletaiy,
Secretary, and Treasurer, Troy
Croft, Glenn Dominy, John C.
Copeland and yours truly.
