Housewarming Fetes
Mr. and Mrs. Isaacs
Mr. and M'x, Leonrnn Isaacs

Mr. and Mrs. Isaacs suffered
the complete l<tss of their home
by fire recently, and Saturday's
housewarming brought a deluge
of lovely t;iits of china, linens,
and other miscellaneous household
furnishings.
An acru lace doth covered the

jtibly could get these patients in-
iferested in eomethlng worthwhile
'and constructive. Out of the 60 pa-
tients on our ward I'd say that
around half of them are pretty
disturbed at all times even though
they are on heavy medications
, (mostly tranquilizers).
When the weather allows we are
able to go out on the yard and
, these who want to can play bas-
j ketball, football, baseball, volley-
i ball, or walk around for exercise.
The putients here on my ward
are of different mental and legal
status I can't break them down
nto groups like Dr. Eidinoff did
and give diagonals, etc. rut to
'heir conditions, but I can say
that several patients that are dis
turbed are under direct observa-
tion and supervision by ward at-
•erdants at all times.
As to those who think the neni-
tent ¡arios are better than the Max-
mum Security Unit here, I can
~"ive vou my own opinion as to
whether prison is better than this
unit of this hospital. I sfxmt three
and one half years in the Texas
Department of Correction, most
of it on the East ham unit, a max-
fmum security farm.
IVisi n life is not too bad. but
is for there being any kind of
therapeutic trtwtmenl there, the
only kind you might get i.s on the
business end of a hoe or a shovel,
etc!
The Eustham farm hud a dou-
ble fence also topped with barbed-
wire and German Shepard dogs
U'tween the two fences. There
are also six 'gun' towers with 30
■•al. machine guns and guards in
r>ach of them with 30-30 cal, rifles.
I believe if Dr. Eidinoff was
!n cne of the "hoe" squads on the
prison farm, hoeing cotton in 90
degree weather and above, he
would sincerely wish he was back
in the hctjiital here where there
Ls at least a semblance of thera-
peutic treatment.
If more psychologists and psy-
chiatrists could come to this hos-
pital and give some of their time
to curing and rehabilitating pa-
tients here, I'm sure it would be
"■eatlv aoore-iated bv most rt
