Mrs. Roger D. Taylor, 'nee
Marilyn Townsend. was hon-
ored with a miscellaneous tea
shower Saturday evening,
September 6th at the home of
Mrs. Jack Tisdale, 24 05 East
Johnson Street.
Hostesses for the bridal sho-
wer were Mesdames Rll Quinn
Barney Tolar, C. J. Harkins,
Charlie Christopher, James
Richards, Floyd Birdwell,
Charles H. I.inney. James
Fisher, Richard Owens, Wel-
don Slaton, Philip English,
Howard Williams, Frank
Morgan, George Monroe,
Jimmy Akin, and Tisdale.
Mrs. Tisdale greeted the
fuests. They were received
|,y the honoree, Mrs, Taylor;
her mother, Mrs. VVayne
Townsend; Mrs, Aubrey Ta-
ylor, mother of the groom;
Mrs. Anna Townsend, grand-
mother of the honoree; and
Mrs. George Rurrows, Sr.,
grandmother of the groom.
Six Couples
Get License
For Marriage
Six couples have obtained
marriage licenses this past-
week, according to records
in County Clerk Mildred Ful-
ton's office.
Those couples were Thomas
Wilton Parrlsh and Robbie
Edith McDonald, both of
Rusk; Weldin Odean Slaton
Jr, of Rusk and Peggy Joan
Kendall of Texarknna; Mi-
chael Edwin Arnold of Mt.
Selrnan and Faye Odell Jack-
son of Rullari; Robert Clif-
ton Hammett and Mamie Lee
rXiggan, both of Jacksonville;
Larry Nell Henge ofJackson-
ville and Diane Sue Fckberg
of San Antonio; and Donnie Joe
Hogg and Sherial Nyann Wil-
liams, both of Jacksonville.
The register table was cov-
ered with pink silk overlaid
with lace. A lovely flower
arrangement of white pom
pom mums, sprengari fern,
and pink net and white satin
bow highlight the register ta-
ble. Miss Rhonda Qulnn and
Miss Joyce Williams alter-
nated at the bride's book.
The refreshment table was
covered with pink silk over-
laid with white net scolloped
at the edge of the table. White
satin bells and ribbon bows
accented each scollop. The
centerpiece was an arrange-
ment of white glads, clamatis,
pom pom mums, and pink as-
ters in a tall crystal antique
vase. Fruit punch, decora-
tive cake squares, mixed nuts
and sugared strawberries
were served. Crystal and
silver table appointments
were used in serving.

colors of pink and white were
used throughout the home.The
many lovely and useful gifts
were displayed In the bed-
rooms.
Assisting in the houseparty
were Misses Sherry McKay,

ards, Joyce Williams, Rhonda
Qulnn, Martha Skinner, and
Mesdames Doyle Clifton and
Randal Kennedy.

An organization of wives
of members of the Lions
Club obviously wear the club
name "Lioness". This
group meets year-round,
once a monl'i on Thursday,
at the F'lnevlew Restau-
rant. Newly-elected offi-
cers Include; Mrs. Pat
Ball, president; Mrs, Patsy
Ielnback, vice president;
Mrs. Margie Dupree. secre-
tary-treasurer ; and Mrs.
Grace King, reporter. The
next meeting of the club was
scheduled for September Hth.
RUSK B&PW CLUB
Another organization which
maintains a 12-month pro-
grams Is the Rusk Business
and Professional Women's
Club, headed by Mrs, Lucille
Seale, president. Other offi-
cers are* first vice president,
Mable Horn; second vice
president, Edith Kinsel; re-
cording secretary, L oulse
Cromwell; reporter and cor-
responding secretary, Varine
Sanders; treasurer, Mildred
Fulton; and Parlimentarian,
Esther Mae Durrett. The
club meets the second Thurs-
day of each month for a busi-
ness meeting and have a din-
ner meeting and program on
the fourth Thursday of each
month.

Child Welfare
Board Seeks
Toys, Funds
Toys, clothing, books, and
funds for shoes, are being
solicited for distribution at
Christmas to children unler
the supervision of the Chero-
kee County Child Welfare
Board, according to Mrs. Jeff
Austin, Jr., treasurer of the
Board.
Mrs, Austin noted the con-
tinuing need for shoes among
the children and used shoes
are not always prattle;! 1 for
use. So she says a fund has
been started to buy- hoes when
they are needed for the chil-
dren.
Arrangements have been
made with the Rusk Stite
Hospital for repair of some
Items where needed, Mrs.
Austin said.
Anyone wishing to contri-
bute to the Shoe Fund or to
donate items are asked to
contact Mrs. Austin in Jack-
sonville, or other members
of the Board; John Box, Jr.,
Dr. M. L.. Gray, Joe Tindel,
all of Jacksonville;Mrs, Wal-
ter Meyers and Mrs. Marga -
ret Ross of Rusk; and Mrs.
Frank Ed Weimer and Mrs.
