will host the first annual Rusk
Eagle Baseball Tournament
here Saturday, March 30.
Participating teams include
Rusk, Gary, Lindale and Mt.
Enterprise.
•The tournament, slated for
Dickinson Field, will begin at
10 a.m. with Rusk playing
Gary. At 12:30 Lindale will
play Mt. Enterprise.
Consolation game will be
played at 5 p.m. with the
championship game set for
7:30 p.m.
Trophies will be awarded for
first, second, third and
consolation.

The Library Study Club held
its regular business meeting
Mar. 12 at the Singletary
Memorial Library with Mrs.

have taken actual training in
the subject at the Rusk Head
Start Center and the Rusk
Public Kindergarten.
The high school students
have assisted their young
charges with games, play-
ground activities, exercise,
games, snacks and nap time.
Completion of the ten day
course of study will complete
their unit in Child Develop-
ment which is a part of the
homemaking course.

At Convention
The Cherokeean received
two awards at the 48th annual
convention of the North and
East Texas Press Association
in Nacogdoches Saturday.
Presentations were made
during a luncheon meeting.
The Cherokeean received a
third place in the Local Column
category for " Round Town
with Mrs. Roundabout." A
fourth place was awarded the
Rusk newspaper in the
Community Service contest for
its support of the loop
project-an extension of FM
Road 343 to intersect with U.S.
Highways 84 and 69
