ENGAGEMENT ANNOUNCEMENT-Mr. and Mrs. Norwood
Edw. Meyer of Dallas announce the engagement and
approaching marriage of their daughter, Komonda Sue
Langford, to Bruce Wade, son of Mr. and Mrs. Oran Wade of
Keklaw. The wedding will be held at 7 p.m. Dec. 14 in the Atoj
Baptist Church. The bride-elect is a graduate of W. T. White
High School in Dallas and the prospective groom is a graduate of
Kusk High School.
AARP 1975 Officers Elected;
Group Plans Future Activities
New officers for the Amer-
ican Association of Retired
Persons, Inc will be installed
at the Association's last
meeting on Dec. 5. The slate of
officers was elected by
acclamation at a regular
meeting of the group Thursday
evening.
Officers to serve next year
include Mrs. Adeline Farmer,
president; James E.A. Ross,
first vice president; Mrs. Mary
Smith, second vice president;
Jesse B. Scoggins, third vice
president; Mrs. Ida Fisher,
secretary; WAV. Finley. treas-
urer; and Mrs. Helen Finley.
assistant treasurer.
Windred R. Hall, assistant
slate director of district 7.
AAkP, will install the officers
at the Dec. 5 meeting. A
covered dish supper will be
served and Mrs. Zula Pearson
will present a special Christ-
mas program.
Mr. and Mrs. Houston
White brought the program at
Thursday's meeting. The pre-
sentation centered on the
White's hobby of growing
Chrysanthemums. The couple
explained procedures of fum-
igation and fertilization of the
soil plus tips on how to harden
the plants to the sun and how to
rush the blooming period.
Slides of their project was
shown The White's have won
ribbons with their prize
flowers.
Play for Pay
Winners Are
Announced
The total number of incor-
rect guesses were high on I his
week's contest with three pro
games throwing most of those
who entered. First place was
won by David Fulton of Route
1, Rusk. A tie on the
tie-breaker score sees O.P.
Walker and Mrs. Rita Price of
Rusk splitting the second and
third place money with each
receiving $4 each.
The contest this week marks
the final one for this football
season. Everyone is invited to
enter.

requested committee reports.
Mrs. Margaret Ross an-
nounced an insurance program
to be held in April. Plans for a
Christmas party were dis-
cussed
Mrs. Brunt
Celebrates
94th Birthday
Mrs. Evie Brunt, lifelong
resident of Cherokee County,
was honored with a birthday
party Thursday at Rusk
Nursing Home. The celebra-
tion of her 94th birthday was
hosted by her children and
grandchildren.
Rev. Mouzon Fletcher, pas-
tor of the First United
Methodist Church of Rusk,
offered a birthday prayer. The
birthday cake, which was
baked by Mrs. Brunt's grand-
daughter Mrs. Ben Hollman of
Cushing. was served to the
residents of the home and the
guests attending.
Mrs. Brunt was born
November 7. 1880 in Alto. She
was the daughter of W.T. < Bill)
and Evaline Blanton Boyd. She
is the widow of W. H. (Hal)
Brunt and the mother of 11
children. Her six living
children are Mrs. Eva Lee
Sartain. Mrs. Edna Slover and
Mrs. Ruth Black of Rusk,
Frank Brunt of Tyler and Mrs.
Lois Spradling and Roy Brunt
of Houston. Mrs. Brunt has lfi
grandchildren and 29 great
grandchildren.
