Plans Meeting
I December 19
The regular quarterly meet-
ing of the Cherokee Civic
Theatre will be held at 7 p.m.,
Thursday, Dec. 19 in the
Pineview Restaurant.
President Frank Howell will
conduct a short business
meeting at 7 p.m. and a
program featuring talented
young people will follow. The
meeting will conclude with a
reception hosted by the Board
of Directors of the organiza-
tion.
"All members of the organi-
zation are urged to attend,"
says President Howell.

The United Methodist Wo-
men Night Unit will hold a
Christmas tea beginning at
6:30 p.m. Dec. 16 in the church
parlor.
The program will be under
the supervision of !\Jrs. Arch

Lunsford and Mrs. Flossie
Nixson assisting.
Title of the program will be
"The Homecoming," by Ear!
Hammer. !l is the nostalgic

Postmaster applications for
Maydelle are being accepted,
according to Regional Post-
master General Frank M.
Sommerkamp.
Sectional Manager, Bill
^Morgan of Tyler, has been
disignated to accept applica-
tions from interested persons
for the Fourth-Class Post
Office position.
Morgan said that applica-
tions will be accepted from
Dec. 4 to Dec. 15 and that the
appropriate forms may be
obtained at the Maydelle Post
Office. The starting salary for
the position is $8,500 per year.
No written test is required.
Morgan said applicants must
reside in the postal sectional
center area in which the post
office is located on the date of
his appointment. The appoint-
ed postmaster will have to live
within a reasonable distance
from the office so that he can
adequately discharge the re-
sponsibilities of the office and
the Postal Service

Fred P. Bergeron, head of
the Aluminum Company of
Americas Anderson County
Works, has been elected to a
three-year term on the Texas
Research League's board of
directors at its annual meeting
in Austin.
The Texas Research League
is a non-profit, educational
corporation engaged in objec-
tive analysis of the operations,
programs and problems of
Texas government. It is
financed by citizens and
businesses.
Bergeron, a 23-year employ-
ee with Alcoa is also in charge
of operations at the company 's
Rockdale Works and heads the
company's statewide public
affairs program.
