Costly new power plants.
Couple's Engagement
Announced By Parents
,v
Why are they built?
If there's no lack of energy
today, why are power
companies spending all
that money on new plants?
1. Because new kinds of
generating plants are
needed —plants that use
the more abundant fuels,
lignite coal and nuclear
fuel. Today, most power
plants use gas and oil, but
in the future, there may
not be enough of these
fuels to assure you a
dependable supply of
electricity. 2. Because the
future will bring new
businesses and industries,
new jobs and new people
to our area—all needing
more electricity than
present plants can supply.
3. Because it takes many
years to get a generating
plant into operation, power
companies must build noiu,
no matter how high the
construction costs.
All this means it now costs
SESCO more than ever to
provide electric service—
and it will continue to cost
even more in the future.
