According to an announcement
from Floyd Lynch, State 4-H Club
leader, she is the 1959 girl’s state
leadership winner.
Her award will be a pen and
pencil set and her record will be
submitted for consideration for
sectional and national honors.
Donor for the leadership awards
is Edward Foss Wilson, of Wash-
ington, D.C.
The Groom High School senior
is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
George H. Latta of Groom. Last
year she was a state, sectional
and national winner in the dairy
foods program. Since 1951, her
first year as a 4-H member, she
has been adding to a record that
includes completed demonstrations
in many fields of both home eco-
nomics and agriculture. She is the
holder of numerous county, dis-
trict and state awards, including
hundreds of ribbons and other
awards on her exhibits, the Gold
Star, and membership in the Tal-
ent Club and the State Fair Hon-
or Award.
Objectives of the leadership pro-
gram are to help the club member
develop leadership talents and
work toward the broad objectives
of character and effective citizen-
ship; gain an understanding of
characteristics which leaders
should develop; learn ways and
means by which 4-H helps club
members develop leadership qual-
ities; give the member knowledge
of the need for able leadership;
get members acquainted with the
work of former 4-H club members
who have become able leaders in
various walks of life and to teach
an appreciation for the enduring
values of sound leadership in a
democratic society.
