Rusk Chapter of the Young Homemakers
of Texas at the organization's area
convention Saturday in Nacogdoches.

the Young Homemakers of Texas elected
officers recently. I.eft to right are Mrs.
Janie Cromer, president; Mrs. Reda
Wilcox, vice-president; Mrs. Margaret
Crawford, secretary-treasurer: Mrs.
Marilyn Cleveland, project -chairman;
Mrs. Peggy Womack. publicity chair-
man; Mrs. Mary Sue Hanson, historian
and Mrs. Peggy Hugghins. social
chairman.

Installed
Mrs. Kathy Singleton,
presented and installed the
new officers of the Rusk
Chapter of the Young
Homemakers of Texas
Tues., Sept. 9.
Officers installed were
Mrs.Janie Cromer, pres-
ident, Mrs. Reda Wilcox,
vice president; Mrs. Mar-
garet Crawford, secretary-
treasurer; Mrs. Marilyn
Cleveland, project chair-
man; Mrs. Peggy Wom-
ack, publicity chairman;
Mrs. Mary Sue Hanson,
historian and Mrs.Peggy
Hugghins, social chair-
man.
Mrs. Womack, outgoing
president, was presented
with an engraved bracelet
as .an appreciation gift
from the organization.
White cake squares and
red punch were served.
The table was covered with
a white net cloth and held a
centerpiece with three
candlelabras holding red
tapers.
Mrs. Janie Jones and
Mrs. Gladys Dotson are
club sponsers.

Set Thursday
Members of Rusk's City
Planning Committee have
been asked to complete
their opinion surveys and
have the forms at the City
Hall no later than 5 p.m.
Thursday.
The newly organized
committee is working with
the East Texas Council of
Governments to develop a
10-year comprehensive
growth plan for the City
Council's consideration.
A minimum of 100
opinions is being sought by
the members who are
Louis W Nelms, W E.But-
ler, W.R.Meador, Ike Dan
iel and Marie Whitehead.
Persons who wish to
express opinions about the
needs of the community
may contact any of these
persons before 5 p.m.

mittee honored local indus-
try September 15-19 with
the first annual Industrial
Week
Terrell's committee or-
ganized exhibits displaying
manufactured products
representing each indust-
ry's ware in Entex.
Southwestern Electric
Company. First State Bank
and Citizens State Bank. A
14 page supplement was
published by the Chero-
keean in conjunction with
the industrial salute.
Other activities during
the week included a joint
service club meeting at the
Pineview Restaurant. Rob-
ert Seal. Dallas. East
Texas Chamber of Com-
merce Industrial Develop-
ment committee chairman
was guest speaker.
Committee members
met with Dallas business-
men Ted Searcy and Dick
Long to discuss industrial
potential in Rusk. Both
sited Rusk as a good
community for prospective
growth They felt that the
area tourism potential
would be a selling point to
manufacturing concerns in
future years.
Helping industry main-
tain their present stand-
ards and expanding growth
is one goal of the Industrial
Development committee.
The Industrial Week salute
showed appreciation for
the economic contribution
that manufacturers have
brought to Rusk
Presently, land sites are
being studied for a potent-
ial industrial park and
small chain motels are
being sought for the area.
Assisting Terrell in de-
veloping a better com-
munity are: George Dodd,
Bobby Tosh, Gene Kelley,
L.J. Leinback, Rusk Indus-
tries and Nacogdoches

attended (he Area IV
Convention Saturday in
Nacogdoches.
The Rusk Chapter was
awarded a silver punch
bowl for outstanding activ-
ities accomplished by a
new chapter.
Attending from Rusk
were Mesdames Janie
Cromer. Reda Wilcox.
Margaret Crawford. Mar-
ilyn Cleveland. Peggy
Womack and Gladys Dot-
son. sponsor.
The meeting was held on
the campus of Stephen
F. Austin State University.
Guest speaker was Mrs.
Rosa Rosenborough who is
well-known in the fashion
and advertising world.She
has modeled for Vogue,
McCalls and many major
designers. She has also
appeared on Broadway and
in many television com-
mercials and magazine
ads.
Sept. 21-27 is Young
Homemakers of Texas
week ind the Rusk chapter
presented a slide story of
the organization at the 4-H
Council Room Tuesday-
night.

Mr. and Mrs. Metz Heald
returned Thursday from a
two week visit with their
daughter Mrs Frank Mad-
den at Houston. Mr.
Madden is in Africa on
business.
Mrs. John Long returned
Monday from visiting with
her son Dr. Jimmy Long at
Huntsville.
Mr. and Mrs. Joe Cohen
and Lisa of Victoria.
Mr.and Mrs. Kent Miller,
Kenny, Kelly Jo and Kevin
of Sulphur. Louisiana and
Melvin Kurth of Houston
were here for the weekend
visiting in the Walter
Deckard home and with
Mr. and Mrs. Carl Wip-
precht. They also celebra-
ted Mr. Deckard's birthday
Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs Gerald
Chapman accompanied her
sister. Mrs' Virginia La
gate to her home in
Weatherford Saturday.
Mrs. Lagate had visited
here for several davs. Mr
and Mrs. Chapman return-
ed home Monday.
Mrs. M.H. Norton is a
patient at Rusk Memorial
Hospital and is reported
improving.
B R.Nicholson is repor-
ted on the critical list at
Nan Travis Hospital in
Jacksonville.
W.M. Vining is at home
after being a patient in Nan
Travis Hospital in Jack
sonville for several days.
Mrs. Lena Walton is
recovering from illness at
Rusk Memorial Hospital
George Holcomb is re-
ported improving at Nan
Travis Hospital in Jack-
sonville.
E.B.Musick Jr. is at
home after surgery and
reported improving.
