Groom were Mr. and Mrs. J. D.
Wood and Bobby and Mr. and
Mrs. L. E. Driskill. Other rela-
tives attended from Provo, Utah,
present. The refreshments were,
furnished by the “Friends of the
Library” organization.
The summer reading program
began on Thursday, June 19 and
was held weekly through July 13.
A picnic was held Friday after-
noon, July 14, at the City Park in

towns in the county.
Ninety children from Groom have
completed the necessary books to
become “Bookworms” and will re-
ceive reading certificates. Anita
Wieberg was the top reading from
Chester, Sherman, Snyder,
Wichita Falls.

BAPTIST WMU MEETING
HELD MONDAY EVENING
Service company provided leaders
and a program for the electricity'
course. Recreation classes were
enjoyed by all with singing, circle
games, swimming and other ac-
tivities. In crafts, everyone learn-
ed to make reed baskets. The
meals were an important part of
the camp and Mrs. Ruby Yates
again proved her ability to keep
the campers well-filled. Flag and
vesper services were important
parts of the program.
Several Groom persons had lead-
ing roles in the camp. Jane Hud-
son was chairman of the ceremon-
ial committee. Mrs. Sam Kotara
was the adult adviser. Ellen Latta
and Sandra Kotara assisted with
the ceremonies and Janice Britten
assisted on the swimming commit-
tee. Ellen Latta was chairman of
the records committee and assist-
ed with recreation. Others from
Groom attending were Twila Wade,
Tanja Weatherly and Carolyn
Brooks.
The camp this year had the
largest attendance on record. Five
leaders, three agents, 25 girls and
36 boys were present. The boys
and girls are eagerly looking for-
ward to the camp next year. '
