Travis C. Briggs, manager of the
Amarillo Social Security office
which serves this area, said that
the first checks including the 10 per
cent raise in social security bene-
fits will be received on June 3.
This will be the regular check
which is the payment for the month
of May. Briggs said the increase is
retroactive to January 1, but that
the higher amount due for January
through April will .be mailed by
separate check sometime later in
June.
Briggs emphasized that social se-
curity beneficiaries do not need to
get in touch with a social security
office to get the raise. All pay-
ments will be increased automati-
cally. “It takes a little over one
month,” Briggs said, “.to refigure
benefits for 26 million beneficiaries.
Checks normally due on April 3,
and May 3, will be inssued on time
but will not include the 10 per cent
raise.”
“For the 806 beneficiaries in Car-
son County, the increase will
amount to approximately $7300 a
month,” Briggs said.
April 10, 1971. Activities begin with
registration at 2:00 p.m. on that
date. Activities include a variety
show, Easter parade of pre-school
children, class reunions and busi-
ness meeting during the afternoon.
The evening meal will be served in
the school cafeteria from 6 to 8
o’clock and tickets will be sold at
the door. Evening entertainment
will be in the school gym beginning
at 8 o’clock

students and ex-teachers from
