Dear Dr. Clark:
Irs. Mallory has sent us a copy of your letter of June
6th to her and I cannot refrain from evidencing our appreciation
by replying to it.
of our children I think herbert, I. A., Jr., was the
only one who attended school under you at Korth Hatley. I re-
gret to tell you that he passed away over three years ago due
to a most unexpected and unwelcome attack of cancer. lie left
his widow and two sons. The eldest son, I. iH. Kempner, III, is
a lieutenant in the Marine Corps. Hie will complete his term of
service in February and will doubtless join in some of our
business ventures. His youngest son has just finished at Choate
School and is the recipient of an unsolicited scholarship award
at Harvard where he expects to enter as a freshman next fall.
The older boy graduated from leeland-etamford before entering
the Marines and is seeking to enter one of the better known
business schools for a semester course in business administration.
Harvard declined to admit him, which was his preference since
his father graduated there.
With reference to the Rand4ll family, alward handall,
Jr., as you doubtless know, is an active physician here. he
has three fine children, all grown, two sons and a daughter.
Ar. Abraham Blum died several years ago. J. 5.
Ibbotson I think has also passed on; he was a very valuable
librarian when here.
You referred to Dr. Thompson. His youngest son married
my youngest daughter. From this union Mrs. Kempner and I have
received the dividend of three grandchildr en.
W'ith kirnest regards,
sincerely yours,
11
cc - Mrs. Lebecca 6. Mallory
